COMING HOME: A Family Musical

Coming Home meets a family at their first family reunion after years of being estranged. Siblings reunite and find that a lot has changed since they’ve seen each other last. Through music inspired by our favorite cookout classics and eye opening dialogue, diving into and challenging the traditions that make up the tapestry of strong black families, we uncover a story of the timeless, unconditional bound that is love.

Black or White

One aspect of the events of this story revolves around an interracial, heterosexual relationship and the narratives attached as they navigate introducing their “union” to this side of the family. It also serves as the lens to view the ways in which black families and communities of color often interact with racism, homophobia, transphobia, discrimination and micro aggressions.
