AURWAY Presents: A One-Night-Only Musicals in Concert: Something Like A Fairytale at Arts High School in Newark!
Newark NJ– Aurway is proud to present a one-night-only concert featuring the music and recording cast of Something Like a Fairytale, a groundbreaking musical that was first conceived over a decade ago. The event will take place at Arts High School on March 10th 2023 at 7:00pm.
A story within a story, Something Like a Fairytale follows a mother who tells her young daughter the story of how she and the girl’s father got together. She turns it into a fairytale so the little girl can understand it better. Through soulful music and fairytale magic, we hold a mirror to the realities of love in real life. It has received much attention for its powerful storytelling and innovative music. In December of 2022, Aurway release a full studio soundtrack, available on all streaming platforms!
The cast of this concert includes Aza D, Walalehnon Gonmiah, Lawrence Dandridge, Marcus Beckett, SV Richards, Martin Carpenter, Alneesha Moret Harris, Bri Javis, Brittany Lindsey, Bekhari, Omar Marcial, Jordan Owens, Veronica Gonmiah, Brianna Thomas, Kazoani Gonmiah, Tisa Harriott, and Duane Banks, many of whom are on the soundtrack!
This concert is a rare opportunity to experience the music of Something Like A Fairytale performed by Aurway A.R.T.I.S.T. 's at the very location where the piece was first conceived. The piece, written and composed by Lawrence Dandridge, was created during Dandridge’s senior year at Arts High School, after students were told there would be no Spring musical due to budget cuts. Something Like a Fairytale was a full student production that has since been performed across the East Coast from NYC to North Carolina. It is a night that promises to be full of emotion and inspiration, and not one to be missed.
Proceeds from the concert will go towards supporting Aurway and our upcoming Fall production of Something Like a Fairytale.
